Orthopedic FAQs
All sessions are approximately 45 minutes including your first treatment—no rushed assessments or cookie-cutter plans here. We’ll start with a thorough evaluation of your jaw, neck, posture, and nervous system, then dive into hands-on work tailored to your unique needs. Follow-up visits include manual therapy, dry needling (if appropriate), movement training, and time to ask questions or process what’s coming up—physically and emotionally.
Real Talk from Dr. Lance:
Most people come in expecting a routine “neck massage.” What they get is targeted relief, root-cause insight, and a plan that finally makes sense.
In Florida, you can see a physical therapist directly for up to 30 days without a doctor’s referral. If your condition requires care beyond that, we’ll coordinate with your provider or refer you to one we trust.
We are an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. This gives us the freedom to treat you without red tape or rushed visits. However, we’re happy to provide you with a detailed receipt (super-bill) you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Why it matters:
Our patients tell us they finally feel heard, cared for, and truly improved—because we’re not treating a number on a chart. We’re treating you.
Most clinics focus on where it hurts. We focus on why. We blend expert-level manual therapy with nervous system regulation and, when appropriate, faith-based support. Our specialty in TMJ, neck pain, and head/face issues means we often help people who’ve been told “there’s nothing else to try.”
You won’t find cold machines or generic exercise handouts here. What you will find is clinical excellence, compassion, and a care plan that actually addresses the whole you—body, mind, and soul.
If you’re open to it, we bring a Christian perspective into your healing—whether that’s through prayer, Scripture-based encouragement, or just understanding that your physical health is deeply connected to your emotional and spiritual well-being.
That said, we always meet you where you are. Faith is never forced—but always welcomed.
- TMJ dysfunction (clicking, locking, tension)
- Chronic headaches and migraines
- Neck pain or stiffness
- Facial tension or asymmetry
- Nervous system dysregulation (often tied to stress, trauma, or anxiety)
- Postural imbalances from screen time, stress, or sleep issues
Many of our clients have already tried mouth guards, chiropractors, or injections—and still wake up in pain. That’s where we come in.
Absolutely—but with some structure. Teens (under age 16) must have a parent present during the evaluation. We also treat moms and daughters as a team if both are struggling with similar issues like jaw tension, posture, or anxiety-related symptoms.
We love helping families heal together—but every plan is personalized. We’ll let you know what makes the most sense after the evaluation.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area we’re evaluating—necklines, jawline, and shoulders especially. If we’re dry needling or using the Neubie device, we’ll always explain and ensure you feel comfortable and covered appropriately.
Each session at Whorton Therapy is a focused, 45-minute one-on-one appointment with Dr. Lance—no assistants, no switching rooms, and no wasted time.
We’re a private-pay practice, which means we don’t bill your insurance directly. Instead, you get a personalized, high-level plan of care designed to get to the root of your pain—and help you spend less time in therapy overall.
- Most clients start feeling real relief within just a few sessions
- No bouncing between providers or repeating your story
No extra fees for dry needling, cupping, or advanced treatments
